Sunderland vs Crystal Palace (20 December 2026, Premier League): match facts, H2H and recent form

Sunderland host Crystal Palace in what promises to be a pivotal clash for both sides in the lower reaches of the table. The Black Cats sit 14th with four points from four games, having scored three and conceded five, while the visitors occupy 16th place with three points, their defence leaking six goals and the attack only managing six. A win would lift Sunderland clear of the relegation zone, whereas Palace will be desperate to close the gap and avoid slipping further down. The recent head‑to‑head record offers little comfort for either side, as both clubs have struggled to find consistency this season. All eyes will be on the midfield battle, where a single breakthrough could decide which team climbs the standings.
